No idea yet. I need to finish first the tier 1 units (i am revamping them for smoother gameplay and for more realism). It will take a time before i have a playable campaign map.

Hey there, I am new to this site, and total fots. I love the Victorian period, and was super disappointed when CA announced three kingdoms (I was hoping for a Victorian age game). I have been really looking forward to the ETW victorian age mod but progress is really slow, so in the meantime I have been looking for mods for other TW games. To make it short I saw that you *izzi* posted  "It is a bit of time consuming, that's true, but i did already made (a world map) one for a future project i want to do." on a suggestions thread for the Victoria mod for empire when suggesting that they could switch to shogun since it would offer map modding. My question is, do you plan to make a whole world Victorian age shogun mod, or do you plan on sticking to Japan and the far east? If you dont want to answer I understand, and I am sorry for using you time if you have already answered this, thanks in advance!

Don't worry about asking. I am planning after this project to do something special like what you mention. I did made a world map, but it's just a raw 3D one. I made it for a future plan i have to make a real Victorian Age mod with a world map. Version 2 is lile my testing ground to see what i can implement in the game and what the limitations are.

Ok sweet! I am looking forward to that next project. Are you going to try and include the American civil war and the introduction of Ironclads and Gatling guns? Your current models for Russia, and Germany are awesome... I hope we can see some pickelhaube helmets too! You definitely have my attention, Gods Speed!

Hello again. I was just wondering if you could take a minute to refer me to any good "learn how to mod shogun 2" threads. I have tried my hand at it once or twice but was always very overwhelmed and never knew where to start. I really think your work is amazing and would love to get into the fall of the Samurai era (as it is my favorite). I would really like to learn how to make a small custom campaign map, nothing fancy but just to learn how to do it and what programs to use. I saw a short guide on it but didn't rely find it very useful as it only added provinces to Japan and not brand new land masses. If this process is for to complicated to simply explain I understand, but if possible please suggest a good area to st least start learning more about the files and the modding kit. Great work on V.2 of the mod so far btw, Prussia looks great!

I am planning to add some tutorials after I finished my version 2 mod. The best is to start with adding new provinces, because this helps you to understand how the system works.

Hello Izzi,

I was wondering, since you're adding parts of Korea and Manchuria (Which would have multiple provinces), are you going to let the Joseon Dynasty own all of Korea or the Qing all of Manchuria?

Or will you add non-playable clans so that Korea on it's own hosts multiple factions? This question is mainly for Korea, since it has the most amount of provinces from the new added locations.

If yes, how would you balance this out?

Since if the Joseon Dynasty owns that many provinces, I assume they can easily build an economy and invade Japan and Manchuria.

Other question:

I checked out the version 2 screenshots, something I noticed is the unit cards at the bottom during the battles.

Maybe this is just me, but I can't help but say the unit cards look too similar to each other. An issue I have with Rome 2 to be fair.

I like what you did with the unit cards in Version 1, especially the British. I think all units look very distinctive and you can at first glance see which unit is which. Some units do look distinctive (version 2) in the unit cards but they look kinda dorky.

So to my question, are you going to change/look into changing the unit cards or are you keeping the ones provided in the screenshots?

For the moment i keep the unit cards. I used the vanilla look, so they look more the same without losing the info. I didn't like much making unit cards that have just a copy/paste of a picture. But you never know if i change it in the future.
Yes, the Joseon will have all of Korea. But just to let you know, the Joseon dynasty is very traditional, and it will take a long time before they really modernize, while all the other nations are much more progressed in that. So in that way, i have balanced it out more as (especially) the Western powers are more advanced in military tech than the Koreans (especially early tiers).
Manchuria has only one region (Outer Manchuria), and the Qing has that region (you can always look at the info tab and see an example of the campaign map for the mod).

Thanks, that answers a lot.

Are the Koreans jus a bit behind the Japanese clans or far behind to the point it'll take a while to even get ranged units?

Since the Qing will only have 1 region, I assume they're going to be quite powerful.

Will you add mainly Manchurian troops or also a bunch of Han-Chinese troops?

Also, will you add unique naval ships for the Qing and Joseon?

And how will they compete against the Japanese and Western powers?

The Koreans are behind the Qing. You could even say that they are the last nation of keeping it traditional (to fit historical accuracy).
The Qing will also have or beter say, they will have traditional units and will modernize quite slowly, but they will unlock more modern units faster than the Koreans (think about the ever victorious army that where trained by foreign officers).
I was thinking about the eight banner army, while i am not sure yet how to implement that. Any suggestions are welcome.
Yes, at least i hope to add unique ships like a Chinese Junk for example (and in later tiers the more modern Bejin Fleet).
Compete? Well, i did balance every well in game (i did a test with the tier 1 Japanese units). But, it will be very difficult to keep up (as it was historical). So i leave that to the players to beat more modern armies. As it was, the Western powers and later the Japanese Empire where way ahead in military tech than the Qing (if you think about the Opium Wars, Boxer Rebellion and the Sino-Japanese War).
